Basematerial is a piece 4 mm thick copper, which was spherodised by annealing and quenching.
Here you can see the notch for the blades back (munemachi) and the machigane, which will be soldered inside the habaki.

The blank was soldered toghether by including the machigane on the edge side with hard solder.

For decoration a small groove was carved in both sides near the tuba area.
This area was filed off creating diagonal scratches; the part toward the blade was polished.
